Backup & Restore

Automatic Backups

DesignFoundry (cloud) automatically backs up your data nightly. Backups are retained for 30 days.

Manual Backup

Super Admins can trigger a manual full backup from Settings → Backup → Create Backup. The backup is available for download as a JSON archive within 15 minutes.

Restore

To restore from a backup:

  1. Go to Settings → Backup → Restore
  2. Select a backup point in time
  3. Review what will be restored (objects, relationships, diagrams)
  4. Click Restore

[!WARNING] Restore overwrites current data with the backup state. This cannot be undone. Perform a manual backup before restoring to preserve current state.

Backup Archive Contents

The JSON archive includes:

  • All objects and their properties
  • All relationships
  • All diagram layouts (object positions and styles)
  • Content pack activation history
